Black Death emerged from the main-event Elimination Chamber at NWA Last Rites as the winner and the new NWA Universal Champion, overcoming Ace McCarthy, Swerve Man, DeCarrion Varnado, Leon Stars and Ace Riley in the six-man field. The Season 2 premium live event closed with a Chamber contest governed by a distinctive pre-match condition: no pinfall attempts were permitted until all six superstars had entered the match. The bout also carried restrictions barring paybacks and double-teaming, putting the outcome squarely on the six individual competitors once the field was complete. The Universal Championship had been vacant in the recorded lineage entering Last Rites, following a June 24 vacancy recorded with the public reason that the prior champion's contract had been terminated with the NWA. Black Death's victory therefore establishes a new reign rather than a title defense or a victory over a reigning champion. Black Death arrived with substantial form behind him. In the pre-match overall rankings snapshot, he stood second with an 84 overall rating, ahead of every other entrant. He also entered on a three-match winning streak and with an 8-2 Season 2 record. DeCarrion Varnado, a former NWA Universal Champion, brought a 13-4 overall record into the contest, while Ace Riley was ranked eighth in that same snapshot. For Black Death, the result adds the NWA Universal Championship to a recorded title history that already included a prior Universal reign, along with World Tag Team and Trios Tag Team Championship reigns. More immediately, his Chamber victory is now the official record: Black Death is the resulting champion of the NWA Universal Championship.
